Schachmann prevents defeat for Bora – hansgrohe
After 2019, Maximilian Schachmann has been crowned German champion in road racing for the second time in his career. The 27-year-old started the 185,3-kilometre race as a favorite, but he has to give everything to the finish line. After starting in Filderstadt Bernhausen, the course led the pros to Stuttgart Degerloch. There you had to complete 25 laps and a total of about 3.000 meters in altitude. Somewhat surprisingly, the boys from Bora - hansgrohe received resistance from the Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux team. Georg Zimmermann and Jonas Koch were serious contenders for the championship jersey right up to the final round. Ultimately, after numerous attacks, Maximilian Schachmann was only able to create the necessary distance on the last climb. Silver and bronze go to Jonas Koch and Georg Zimmermann ahead of Emanuel Buchmann and Marcus Burghardt.
