Cycling: Demi Vollering is the discovery of the year in women's cycling. The 24-year-old from the Netherlands won the eighth edition of La Course by Le Tour de France today. Once again she has her teammate Anna van der Breggen to thank for her success.
Demi Vollering sprints off Marianne Vos
The first German victory almost came at La Course by Le Tour de France. Liana Lippert (DSM) was among the eight strongest women today and even attacked in the last kilometer. However, her competitors did not let her go a meter. This led to the group sprint, in which the German unfortunately could no longer compete for victory. Instead, the world champion drew Anna van der breggen (SD Worx) set the pace for her teammate Demi Vollering (SD - Worx) - as with Liège - Bastogne - Liège. And it should work here too. Marianne Vos (Jumbo – Visma) went into the wind too early and even let the Danish sail her Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine Futuroscope) still overtake.
A Tour de France for women
Today the peloton covered 107,4 kilometers from Brest to Landerneau. Before the men hit the track, the women had already crossed the finish line. La Course by Le Tour de France took place for the eighth time. Women's cycling has used the grand stage of the men's Tour de France to promote itself during this period of thrilling racing. In the future there should finally be a multi-day Tour de France for the women. 8 stages are planned for the beginning. Thus, this staging of La Course by Le Tour de France was the last one for the time being.
