The new Giant Revolt E+: Additional power for a proven all-rounder

July 6, 2021 by Florian Nowak

Product News: That Giant Revolt is already known to many cycling fans as a real all-rounder and has always known how to convince with a lot of comfort and good handling. Thanks to its high versatility, it feels at home on asphalt and gravel roads as well as off-road. With the brand new Giant Revolt E+, the proven all-rounder has now been equipped with a Shimano EP8 motor, providing additional support and lots of riding fun.

The new Giant Revolt E+ is the newest member of the Giant e-bike family. With new technologies and a new SyncDrive Pro system, which has been combined with a Shimano EP8 motor, the is the perfect dropbar all-rounder with e-support. The bespoke drivetrain is said to provide smooth acceleration on paved roads, gravel or dirt tracks and is also optimized for use with Shimano Di2 electronic shifters, allowing for a clean cockpit setup that does not require an additional display on the handlebars. Compared to the SyncDrive Pro systems used on many other Giant e-bikes, the Shimano EP8 motor is tuned to be less responsive to torque input and more responsive to cadence, as cadence is what mostly matters when gravel biking is higher. This makes it ideal for even power transmission and even more sensitive control. With a weight of only 2,8 kg and a torque of 85 Nm, the powerful motor system is quite impressive.

The motor is controlled using the RideControl Go control panel on the top tube. But: The Giant Revolt E+ also has the so-called SmartAssist technology. Here, the force exerted on the pedals is measured with six sensors and thus the appropriate support is calculated in order to create a natural, powerful driving experience. You can also choose whether the support levels should be adjusted automatically while driving. So you don't have to make any more settings while driving and you can just start driving. And that goes for quite a while without any problems, because with the new EnergyPak Smart Compact 500 battery, which is neatly integrated into the down tube of the frame set, you have a decent range on a bike like this. If you run out of juice, you are also well equipped with a quick charge function (up to 80 percent in 2,2 hours) or range extenders, which offer an additional 250Wh of power.

As already mentioned, the Giant Revolt E+ was developed in the style of the unsupported gravel bikes of the Revolt series, with the aim of providing a smooth, responsive ride on any surface. The ALUXX SL frame set and the carbon fork offer an ideal platform for sporty and balanced riding. The D-Fuse seat post helps absorb shock and vibration, which has a positive effect on comfort. In addition, all models are equipped with high-volume tires and integrated mounts for mudguards, luggage racks and other accessories.
