Test: The young brand from the Eifel has a well-known technology group behind it. And a lot of e-bike technology in the range: A powerful Shimano motor and solid equipment make the Pasia Tero interesting for riders who want to roll comfortably over nature trails.
Techniropa is all about electronics and electrical engineering. "TechniSat" is known to everyone who can still remember the triumph of satellite television more than 30 years ago; TechniBike, on the other hand, is self-explanatory, but not necessarily generally known. Behind the company name is the e-bike division of Techniropa Holding, which was founded in 2016 and has now repositioned itself with the HoheAcht trademark. The range of models under the TechniBike label, which is still very clear, has grown enormously and now includes city bikes with five-speed hub gears and a choice of chain or belt drive, trekking bikes with derailleur gears (plus a Rohloff model) and e-mountain bikes, including a full-suspension bike. A uniting element The entire range is powered by the motor: HoheAcht relies across the board on the powerful Steps EP8 from Shimano, which offers plenty of power with 85 Nm of torque - despite its compact dimensions and low weight. And the bikes have also evolved visually, as the Pasia Tero shows.
Nice look, good technology
At 3.599 euros, the trekking bike – also available with a diamond frame as the Pasio Tero – is one of the cheapest models from HoheAcht. In the color "volcanic slate" the wheel looks very subtle; Alternatively, you can choose from "Weidemilch", "Marone" and "Perlwein" - a surprisingly wide range of contemporary colors that make the bikes appear very valuable. The massive, well-balanced frame pleases with integrated cables and cables, which only become visible again on the chainstays just before the dropouts; At the rear, the combination of a wide fender and a carrier mounted directly on it is striking, making further struts superfluous. Both wheels are attached with quick-release axles; the wheel size 27,5 inches with 58 mm wide studded tires identifies the Pasio as an e-SUV - the even more off-road variant of the e-trekking bike, which is also matched by the spring travel of 100 mm on the fork.
On the test bike in size S, the very short seat tube is striking - great, because even small riders can get along well with the Pasia. HoheAcht offers both frame shapes in three sizes, S, M and L, but each of them is different - the smallest trapezoidal frame should actually be called XS, the largest diamond frame XL. It is also noticeable that all frame sizes have the same head tube length of 150 mm. If you are taller, you have to work with spacers and the stem angle to sit upright enough.

Compact and comfortable
In any case, test rider and test bike harmonize very well: The short frame means that the seating position is pleasantly compact, the handling is safe and calm, especially since the steering angle is quite flat. With the standard 500-watt-hour battery, you can get pretty far; The 100 Wh storage unit costs only 630 euros extra, which long-distance drivers should take for the brand.
The extreme thrust of the motor stands in striking contrast to the touring sitting position. Beginners who still have to get used to the "built-in tailwind" of an e-bike should stay in Eco mode if possible, which at 49 Nm already offers quite a decent torque - comparable to that of the Bosch Active Line Plus. In everyday use, trail and boost mode are only for steep climbs, although trail mode can be dosed very well due to the high level of personal effort required. Advanced riders can use the Shimano app to create two riding profiles with different parameters or to change the factory settings where it makes sense. The thrust when starting off and the maximum engine torque can be selected according to personal taste. The rather small display on the left of the handlebar provides information about the most important driving and engine data; it seems to be fully sufficient for everyday use.

The special SUV tire from Conti, which rolls easily on the road with narrow tread blocks on the middle ridge and is nice and snappy on loose ground with strong shoulder lugs, and last but not least the already mentioned 100 mm fork ensure that Wheel and motor fit well together. With these properties, the Pasia is already halfway to MTB, ideal for touring and everyday rides on field and forest paths. Those who live in rural areas actually need just such an e-bike; as well as riders who want to use their everyday bike for off-road sport.
This also fits in with the company location of HoheAcht in the Eifel town of Daun, where cyclists will certainly often be on the road on non-asphalted paths. Not too far away is the young brand's namesake, the Hohe Acht - the third highest mountain in Rhineland-Palatinate and the highest in the Eifel. The new provider wants to aim high, that seems to indicate - and with e-bikes like the Pasia Tero that could also succeed.
