Cadex Race handlebars: Everything under control with a one-piece system?!

August 17, 2021 by Florian Nowak

Product news: With the Cadex Race, the specialist for components and wheels is bringing its first high-end handlebar onto the market and, according to its own statements, intends to enter a new category of components. Thanks to a specially developed, one-piece production process, the new Cadex Race handlebar weighs only 160 grams at a width of 420mm and impresses with excellent rigidity, maximum comfort and excellent handling.

The new Cadex Race handlebar features a complex one-piece carbon fiber layup technique. A carbon road bike handlebar usually consists of three parts, but Cadex takes the extremely complex step of a one-piece composite construction, which not only saves weight. Because this manufacturing process also achieves significantly better rigidity values, which cannot be achieved with the glued connections of traditional three-part handlebars.

The ergonomics of the Cadex Race handlebars are also said to have been improved, with the upper parts being gently curved and the rear part being flattened. This shape offers the rider an expanded range of hand and thumb positions while dampening road vibrations, minimizing fatigue and providing lasting comfort for all-day rides. The drops also have an easy-to-grip elliptical shape with a reach of 72 mm. This distance offers a safe change of grip position from the top link to the shift-brake levers. The 125mm drop allows you to quickly switch to the lower link, which seems ideal for sprinting.

“In our constant pursuit of excellence, we wanted to significantly improve one of the most important contact points on the bike - the handlebars. The Race handlebar shares much of the cutting-edge carbon layup technology found in our CADEX hookless rims, but the greatest achievement has been the development of an innovative one-piece racing handlebar that eliminates the excessive weight and inharmonious flex that can be found in the glued joints of conventional three-piece handlebars. Combined with our optimized ergonomics, the result is an impressive 160g weight for a 420mm handlebar that doesn't compromise on stiffness and comfort.” – Jeff Schneider, director of product and marketing at Cadex
