Spectrum: The new BDR Vice President for mass sport, Bernd Schmidt, is planning to expand the off-road area. The focus here is particularly on gravel bikers. So that these are not lost to RTF and cycling, they should be recaptured with a special Gravel offer. For the implementation, the BDR mass sport is looking for a committed off-road specialist as soon as possible, who will take over the honorary task of the off-road officer within the mass sport commission.
Graveling is more than just a trend, as Bernd Schmidt, the new BDR Vice President for mass sport, has also recognized: "I'm sure that this isn't just a publicity stunt for the bicycle industry. Many athletes like to go off-road and off-road. But they don't just want to drive off-road or just on the road.” In order to meet the needs of this group, the BDR mass sport is planning a special offer. Together with association and club representatives, Bernd Schmidt is developing a new format. “I see great potential here for our sport and our clubs,” he assesses the current situation.
Since the RTF/CTF areas are to be separated, both at the BDR and at the associations, the working group will be expanded to include an off-road "coordinator". The BDR mass sport is therefore looking for a dedicated off-road specialist as soon as possible who will take on the honorary task of off-road officer within the mass sport commission. The area of responsibility includes the areas of country touring, mountain biking and gravelling, the further development of the sporting offer and the networking of the players from the top of the association to the club base. Bernd Schmidt will be happy to provide more information personally; applications can be submitted until October 30, 2021.
