News: In an exciting race, the German Simon Gegenheimer secured the world title in the Eliminator Sprint. According to his own statements, the Corratec Revo Bow was the perfect companion on his journey to success.
In an absolute heart-stopping final, Germany's Simon Gegenheimer secured the world title in the Eliminator Sprint. After the race got off to a somewhat cautious start for Gegenheimer with an 8th place in the initial individual time trial, he was able to roll up the field of riders from behind in the following runs and qualified in a sovereign manner for the final heat in the quarter- and semi-finals. Here it came to an exchange of blows between Gegenheimer and his toughest competitor Jeron van Eck. Dutchman van Eck led the final for a long time with a strong performance from the front. In the final corner, the German chose a risky line on his Corratec Revo Bow and started the sprint. In the last few meters he passed van Eck and won the world championship title, fulfilling a dream.
"I am absolutely overwhelmed. I've won the UCI Overall World Cup, seven World Cup races and four UCI World Championship medals, but never the World Championship title. That was our big goal and now we have achieved it! We are world champions. The track and the atmosphere in Graz was just great. After every curve, the many spectators cheered us on and created a great atmosphere. It was just great to drive in front of a big crowd again. Unfortunately, my time in the prologue wasn't perfect and I had to start the race from behind as 8th. Luckily in the final I felt Jeroen (van Eck) slow down on the climb. I had to drive the last corner clean and tight to accelerate earlier and faster. And it worked perfectly!” – World Champion and Corratec athlete Simon Gegenheimer
The German driver Marion Fromberger was also always very well positioned in the women's category and also qualified for the final with an excellent performance. However, top Italian rider Gaia Tomena was unbeatable here and Fromberger finished a strong fourth at the end of the day, rounding off an excellent Team Corratec result.
