Cycling: The Federation of German Cyclists continues to present itself from its best side at the European Road Championships in Trento. After Linda Riedmann won gold in the junior women's road race yesterday, Liane Lippert can celebrate silver today in the women's race.
Lippert only beaten by Van Dijk
After silver in the time trial has ellen van dijk now secured gold in road racing. The Dutchwoman surprised many fans and experts with this, as she was not considered the number one trump card in the strong Dutch team. But in the middle of the race a group of four formed, into which the Oranje sent Ellen van Dijk. This finally turned out to be the strongest breakaway, while behind it the pace dropped again and again. With a solo over 23 kilometers she drove towards gold. Behind it seemed Liana Lippert to be the best climber. She wasn't able to pull away, but in the sprint for second place she was ahead. Bronze goes on Rasa Leleivyte from Lithuania.

U23: Stigger and Koch only just miss out on a medal
There was no medal for German-speaking drivers in the U23 road race. It would have almost been enough here, too. The Austrian Laura Stigger was fourth, the German Franziska Koch Seventh. The medals went to the Italian after an exciting race Silvia Zanardi, the Hungarian Kata Blanka Vas and the French woman Evita Muzic hang around
