Product news / E-MTB: With the Scott Patron eRide, e-mountain bikers can look forward to an exciting new model with an innovatively integrated Bosch Smart System. The newcomer, trimmed for downhill fun with 160 mm of travel, offers numerous clever solutions that make the bike stand out from the crowd.
New platform between Genius and Ransom
Actually, Scott already has a fairly comprehensive portfolio in the field of full-suspension E-MTBs: from the versatile but somewhat tame Strike to the trail all-rounder Genius and the full-throttle Ransom. In this respect, it is not so much the area of application that represents the big innovation with the Patron eRide, but the concrete implementation: With 160 mm of spring travel and a fairly sporty geometry, it is placed somewhere in the trail/enduro area, but uses a completely new one Frame development including Bosch Smart System. In addition, Scott promises a descent performance close to the classy enduro, but at the same time the climbing genes of a cross-country bike.

System integration at a high level
As with the other E-MTBs in the portfolio, Scott also relies on a drive unit from Bosch for the new Patron eRide - this comes in all five or seven equipment variants recently presented Smart System for use: In addition to the well-known and proven CX motor of the fourth generation with up to 85 Nm, there is also the new 750 Wh battery and the new operating concept consisting of LED remote and Kiox 300 display. The choice of the right drive system is important - but its appropriate integration also plays an essential role in performance in practice. This is exactly where the Scott Patron eRide scores with innovative and clever features.
Let's start with the engine itself. This sits almost completely upright in the frame - according to Scott, it is not only better protected, but can also be cooled more efficiently. Since the motor is enclosed by the frame on the underside, it gets significantly less damage when it hits the ground than on other E-MTBs, where it is usually quite exposed at the lowest point of the frame. It is cooled while driving through ventilation inlets on the top and should therefore be able to develop its full performance over a long period of time. The inclusion of the very large, new 750 Wh Powertube battery is no less imaginative. It sits in a precisely fitting sleeve in the down tube and is inserted and removed from the underside of the bottom bracket. It has a small finger loop for this purpose – practical.
However, the issue of integration on the Patron eRide is not “just” limited to the drive; for example, the damper is completely hidden inside the frame. It can be easily reached for service via a removable cover, otherwise it is protected from all external influences and makes plenty of room in the frame triangle - for a drinking bottle, for example. Hopefully we will soon be able to find out for ourselves how the heat behaves on longer descents in a test.

Oh yes: If you are now wondering how to operate the platform damping of the rear triangle, for example. Of course, the in-house TwinLoc technology is also on board again on the Patron eRide. The fork and damper can be adjusted in three stages (Traction, Lockout, Descend) via a remote on the handlebars. These change not only the response behavior, but also the kinematics and geometry. The control lever itself has also been further developed and now has an integration for operating the dropper support - finally!

Large wheels, sporty geometry
The key data of the Patron eRide scream for maximum trail fun: In addition to the large 29-inch wheels at the front and rear and the ample spring travel reserves, the geometry in particular makes this clear. When you look at the raw numbers, the new eMTB is pretty close to the Ransom eRide, which is certainly one of the most potent downhill eMTBs on the market right now. The steering angle is pretty slack at around 65°, and the main frame with a well-measured reach is very spacious. This gives you enough space to shift your weight on the descent.
Nevertheless, the Patron eRide does not appear to be a pure downhill machine. The high stack speaks for this - despite the very sporty DNA, you shouldn't be too stretched out while sitting, which should also suit touring riders.

Scott Patron eRide models and trim levels
The Scott Patron eRide is available in a total of seven configurations. Two of them have the suffix Contessa and are special women's models: While the geometry is the same as the regular variants, the ergonomic components such as saddle or handlebars and grips are different. Otherwise, the top models from the 900 series rely on a carbon main frame and an aluminum rear triangle. The main frame of the Patron eRide 910 and 920 is also made of aluminium.
All models have the drive system with Bosch CX motor, 750 Wh battery and LED remote including Kiox 300 display in common. The price starts at just under 6.000 euros - the end of the line is reached with the Patron eRide 900 Ultimate at 10.999 euros.
