European Railway Championships in Grenchen: Gold, silver & bronze for Brennauer, Grabosch & Kröger

8 October 2021 by Michael Behringer

Brennauer Bahn World Championship

Cycling: The third day of the European Railway Championships in Grenchen was also successful for the BDR. The German women once secured the complete set of medals. Lisa Brennauer can even look forward to her second gold medal at this European Championship.

Brennauer gets her second EM gold

The European Championship in Grenchen is for Lisa Brennauer a complete success. After the 33-year-old won gold in the team pursuit, she has now also triumphed in the individual competition. The French Marion Borras didn't stand a chance in the final and was a whopping 4 seconds slower than the German. Bronze went on Mike Kroeger. She was even able to catch up with the Italian Martina Alzini in the small final.

Lisa Brennauer:
“I am happy that I decided to start. Two European championship titles – the result could not have been better.”

Grabosch only defeated by the unbeatable

The BDR women can also celebrate a medal in the 500-meter time trial. And with it Pauline Grabosch probably made the most of the possibilities with the silver medal. Because gold went to the clear top favorite Daria Shmeleva from Russia, who can call herself European Champion for the fourth time.

Pauline Grabosch:
“I am taking new experience and motivation with me from here. This European Championship was a good and very successful stopover on the way to the World Championships in Roubaix.”
