Cycling: The women of the BDR continue to write history at the Track World Championships in Roubaix. On the fourth day of competition, Lisa Brennauer, Franziska Brauße and Mieke Kröger can look forward to a completely German podium. Lea Sophie Friedrich also won gold in the time trial.
German podium in the individual pursuit
That's never happened before! At the Track World Championships in Roubaix, the German women occupy the entire podium in the individual pursuit. gold goes on Lisa Brennauer in Franziska Brausse and Mike Kroeger. The women are making history again after the double victory in the sprint was a historic result. The winner was able to cover the 3.000 meter distance about four seconds faster than her opponent. Mieke Kröger defeated Martina Alzini from Italy in the small final and even caught up with her.
Lisa Brennauer:
“The medal is something very special. The focus here was on the foursome. Nevertheless, the one-time pursuit was a goal for us. To be three on the podium now is crazy.”
Lea Sophie Friedrich defends her title
Auch Leah Sophie Friedrich can look forward to another gold medal. In the 500 meter time trial she repeated her success from the previous year. Pauline Grabosch Despite her personal best, only the thankless fourth place remained - which she now occupies for the third time in this competition at a track world championships.
Leah Sophie Friedrich:
“Actually, I didn't want to do the 500 meters at all. You can't really say that now. I'm super proud of myself. It's unbelievable after just lying in bed for a week. I knew I could rip it out the back. Cool."
