Cannondale Scalpel HT: Faster, Safer, More Fun

9 November 2021 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The new Cannondale Scalpel HT is the answer to the increasing demands on sporty off-road hardtails over the years. The Scalpel should be there even faster, safer and more fun downhill without losing liveliness and agility. According to the manufacturer, you don't just have that improved the frame weight, but also incorporated improvements based on the previous model F-Si, as well as the Cannondale trail bikes and the Scalpel platform.

The basic idea of the Cannondale Scalpel Hardtail is to convince with a progressive geometry and a steering angle of 66.5 degrees. This should allow the Scalpel to be steered safely and stably even on steep terrain and at high speeds. Especially with regard to increasingly technical descents, this is a clear bonus when it comes to safety, speed and fun. Added to this is the Lefty Ocho suspension. Thanks to the longer offset of the fork, the bike does not lose any agility and can still be playfully circled through the trail. In addition, a 110 mm suspension travel is now used in the high-end models.

Another key aspect is the steep seat tube angle of 74,5 degrees, which should have a very positive effect on climbing sections and steep uphill passages in particular. With an impressively low weight - in frame size M, the Hi-Mod frame weighs just 895 g - the new Cannondale hardtail is one of the lightest in the world.

The lowered seatstays and chainstays allow for a flex, which dampens smaller impacts and should offer the rider significantly more comfort. fFor an ideal fit and so that every rider sits as stable and centered as possible on the bike according to his size, the chainstay length of the Scalpel HT is adjusted according to the respective frame size.
