Product news / E-MTB: We take a look at the new Cube Stereo Hybrid Trailmotion models - the E-MTBs with a heart for trail fans will of course remain with us in the 2022 model year and will receive some major updates, including the new Bosch Smart System .
For several years now, the Trailmotion models have not only been part of the Cube range, but are also among the most popular bikes of all. The concept sounds simple: These are special equipment variants of existing (mountain) bikes that are consistently geared towards use on the trail. In contrast to the usual equipment variants that are otherwise known - strictly graded according to price and value of the components - the focus here is on the area of application.
The Stereo Hybrid TM models are particularly successful: The e-fullies already offer an attractive price/performance ratio and with the Trailmotion variants Cube closes the gaps between the existing models with 120, 140 or 160mm spring travel. This will not change fundamentally in the 2022 model year either; every Cube Stereo Hybrid will also be equipped with the abbreviation TM in the coming season, and there are still some components and add-on parts that are much more robust and tailored to (harder) off-road use. On the other hand, what no longer exists is the difference in spring travel, as we knew it from previous years. Here, the TM models had a spring travel plus of 10mm at the front. Although the Stereo Hybrid TM E-MTBs also have 2022 suspension forks with 10mm more travel than the rear triangle offers, this now applies to all equipment variants, whether Trailmotion or not.
Bosch Smart System and 750 Wh battery – from frame size M
Even if nothing has changed in the concept - the bikes themselves have been completely redesigned for the coming season. Technically, the biggest innovation is certainly the Bosch Smart System. In addition to the well-known and proven Bosch Performance CX motor with a maximum torque of 85 Nm, there is not only a completely new operating concept with LED remote and Kiox 300 display, but also the large 750 Wh battery in the down tube. This not only offers more capacity than its predecessor, but has also grown in size. It measures a full six centimeters longer compared to the Powertube 625. In order to accommodate the new battery in the down tube, this also had to be longer, which in the case of the Cube Stereo Hybrid models means that the new Bosch system with a large battery; For sizes XS and S, Cube relies on the frame of last year's model with the well-known 625 Wh battery.

All models with the Bosch Smart System will have a completely new frame for the 2022 model year. The materials remain the same, completely aluminum for the Stereo Hybrid 120, a main frame made of carbon for the variants with 140 or 160 mm spring travel. However, all models have been slimmed down significantly, both visually and technically: The entire rear end is significantly less massive than before and the wall thickness of the main frame could also be reduced somewhat without having to compromise on rigidity or durability. The result is a reduced weight that can at least partially compensate for the additional weight caused by the large battery (approx. 800 g).

There are also some innovations in terms of features: the spoke magnet is finally history and a combination of brake disc magnet and collector in the dropout is used. This is not only significantly less susceptible to interference, but also simply looks much more elegant. In addition, all models now have an integrated mount for a side stand on the underside of the chainstays. Speaking of optics: All lines and cables now run inside the frame at the headset – chic!
Cube Stereo Hybrid Trailmotion 2022: models, equipment and prices
The Stereo Hybrid will also be available in three versions in 2022: The Stereo Hybrid 120, which is trimmed for comfort, the very versatile Stereo Hybrid 140 and the downhill specialist Stereo Hybrid 160.
Cube Stereo Hybrid 120TM
The Cube Stereo Hybrid 120 also relies on an aluminum frame in 2022 and comes with 120 mm of travel at the rear and 130 at the front. With a rear end trimmed more for comfort and its long chain stays, it should appeal to touring riders in particular - thanks to the potent equipment in the TM version and the longer main frame, it's also well-armed for trail excursions that aren't too wild.
