Cycling: With an impressive race to catch up, Lucinda Brand won the Jaarmarktcross in Niel. Eli Iserbyt won the men's race, taking over the overall lead in the Superprestige.

Lucinda Brand defies her bad luck

Even two setbacks during a race could n't seem to faze world champion Lucinda Brand (Telent – ​​Baloise Lions). The Dutch rider had to change her bike immediately after the start. Later, she crashed during an attack. Despite being several seconds behind, she managed to catch Annemarie Worst (777) on the final lap – and leave her behind. Denise Betsema (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal) narrowly defended her lead in the Superprestige standings with a third-place finish.

Eli Iserbyt wins in the photo finish

The men's race was even closer. Ultimately, Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen – Bingoal) narrowly edged out his ninth victory of the season. In the sprint of the dying swans – as the winner himself described the end of the race – the Belgian edged out fellow Belgian Toon Aerts (Telenet – Baloise Lions). This win also puts him in the lead of the Superprestige overall standings. Another Belgian, Quinten Hermans (Tormans CX) , completed the podium in Niel .
