Cycling: Wout van Aert celebrated an outstanding season debut at the Superprestige in Boom. The Belgian immediately won his first cyclocross race of the season with a clear lead. In the women's category, Lucinda Brand from the Netherlands once again triumphed.
Wout van Aert wins despite a fall
He's back! Wout van Aert made his first appearance of the season at an official cyclocross race – and won straight away. And what a win it was! The Belgian completely outshone the competition, triumphing with a commanding lead of 1:40 and 1:48 respectively over his compatriots Toon Aerts and Lars van der Haar. Eli Iserbyt, who finished fourth today, still leads the overall standings . When Wout van Aert crashed in the penultimate lap – as did many of his rivals – he already had a comfortable lead.

Lucinda Brand extends overall lead
With her fourth victory in five Superprestige races, Lucinda Brand remains firmly on course to win the Superprestige title. The Dutch rider won in Boom with a lead of 37 and 43 seconds over Inge van der Hejden and Denise Betsema, respectively. The second-place finisher can certainly be considered a major surprise, while the third-placed rider now trails leader Lucinda Brand by three points in the overall standings.
