Nino Schurter and Ralph Näf launch new mountain bike series in Switzerland: ÖKK Bike Revolution

7 December 2021 by Andrew Waldera

ÖKK Bike Revolution

MTB News: Switzerland will be enriched by a promising mountain bike experience in the coming season. The new mountain bike series ÖKK Bike Revolution wants to combine top-class sport, popular sport, promotion of young people and happenings to do with bikes. Behind the series are mountain bike world champion Nino Schurter and mountain bike legend Ralph Näf, who gave their name to ÖKK Versicherung.

Mountain bike world champion Nino Schurter and mountain bike legend Ralph Näf are launching a new mountain bike series in Switzerland in 2022. The focus here is on new ideas, a focus on organization, communication and technology as well as a lot of love for mountain biking. The two top athletes can definitely fall back on a huge wealth of experience. Ralph Näf from Thurgau has been a successful team boss for five years (in his team, Mathias Flückiger from Bern rode to Olympic silver) and was able to call himself world, European and Swiss champion in his career as a professional biker. Nino Schurter from Graubünden, Olympic champion in 2016, is the reigning world champion and is now wearing the coveted rainbow jersey for the ninth time.

The series will feature three events in its first year, with more to come in the coming years. We're talking about four to six races. The best mountain bikers in the world will not be long in coming: CHF 140.000 will be paid out for the three races and the overall ranking - the largest prize money ever paid out in Switzerland. However, ÖKK Bike Revolution also offers hobby athletes and young talents the opportunity to compete. Various categories should guarantee fair cross-country races with a high excitement and fun factor for all participants.

In addition to the races, participants and visitors can look forward to a colorful supporting program. Bike fans can experience everything that makes a bike heart beat faster in the Event Village in the respective region, from games for children to exhibitions by equipment suppliers and personal encounters with the pros. Tours for amateur athletes are also offered. Those who are interested discover the respective region geographically and culinary on the bike. ÖKK Bike Revolution starts on Monte Tamaro, from March 25th to 27th, 2022. The second destination is Chur as a city event from April 22nd to 24th. The grand finale will take place in Huttwil from September 23rd to 25th.
