Children's bikes 2022: These are your favourites
Children's bikes have to cover an enormous spectrum. The little ones' bikes often have to be used in everyday life, but they are also being used more and more as real sports equipment. A lot has happened in the MTB sector in recent years, which is also reflected in our top 3. Our readers' favorite bike combines everyday life with off-road fun in a harmonious balance - MTB tires are also combined here with a rigid fork and eyelets for mudguards or luggage racks. The 20-inch bike scores particularly well when it comes to weight. In second place among the best children's bikes of 2 is the KTM Wild Speed Disc, a new kids' bike that focuses more on off-road terrain - here, in addition to a suspension fork, there are also real disc brakes. Finally, the podium is completed by a real fully: The Trance Junior 2022 from Giant, which is based on 26-inch wheels, with its 26mm spring travel at the front and rear, allows for brisk excursions on somewhat more demanding trails.
With the LS-Pro series, Puky offers super-light, reduced children's bikes in several wheel sizes. The 20-inch model is aimed at children between 115 and 133 cm tall, which means it can be used for a long time; This is made possible by the shape of the frame with an extra-short seat tube. With a seven-speed derailleur and rim brakes, the bike is functional and easy to use; the Puky-typical seat geometry allows an upright posture, which is ideal for small children. High quality in detail can be found, for example, in the front wheel hub with maintenance-free deep groove ball bearings.

The inexpensive KTM is basically a perfect hardtail mountain bike for beginners: It offers solid technology such as the 1×9 gears and a Suntour fork with 80 mm spring travel, is designed for a more upright sitting position and, at just under twelve kilos, it is not too heavy difficult. The slightly profiled tires already show that the Wild Speed is designed more as an all-rounder for the road and nature trails - a bike that can be used in everyday life as well as for tours on field and forest paths and always has reserves.

A good 2.000 euros is a manageable price given the fact that Giant has built everything into the Trance Junior that makes for a versatile trail fully: RockShox air suspension with 120 mm of spring travel front and rear and a remote lockout for the fork, Sram twelve-speed gears with 11-50 cassette and of course wide 2,35 tires that can be converted to tubeless. Choosing a size is made easier by the fact that there is only one frame size, and it fits kids between 1,45 and 1,65 meters - that's helpful if you want the Junior 26 to surprise you.
