Cycling: As expected, Elisabeth Brandau once again secured the German championship title in cyclocross. The 36-year-old won the race in Luckenwalde and was crowned German Cycle Cross Champion for the sixth time.
Brandau wins for the fifth time in a row
Unsurprisingly, Elisabeth Brandau clinched the German championship title in cyclocross on Saturday in Luckenwalde. With another confident performance, she relegated Lisa Heckmann and Stefanie Paul to second and third place. The two were 1:53 and 2:38 behind at the finish line. She has absolutely lived up to her role as a favourite.
Elizabeth Brandau:
“That wasn't my favorite track. There were a lot of curves, few climbs. I don't think I've reached my maximum heart rate. My legs actually only burned on the stairs. Apart from that, I had to be able to get around corners quickly. I felt good because the track was more fun with every lap.”
Men drive for the title on Sunday
In the U23 class, Judith Krahl was crowned German Champion. Jule Märkl won the race for the juniors. Pascal Tömke is the new German U23 men's champion. The elite men will compete against each other in Luckenwalde on Sunday.
