Fischer MTB floor pump Plus Volume tested: Bicycle pump with that certain extra

18 January 2022 by Andrew Waldera

Fischer MTB floor pump Plus Volume

The Fischer MTB floor pump Plus Volume promises plenty of air for pumping up mountain bike tires. Not only the generously dimensioned diameter of the pump body is striking, but also the height of the bicycle pump. Much air about nothing or a great product at a low price?

Structure and key data Fischer MTB floor pump Plus Volume

Like all products from the Fischer portfolio, the MTB floor pump does not fall out of the price range. For 27,99 euros, the buyer gets a visually very eye-catching bicycle pump with astonishing dimensions. The metal pump body, painted bright green and blue, has a tube diameter of 38 millimeters, the total height of the product including the handle is 73 centimeters. The handle and base are made of plastic. A large and easy-to-read analog pressure gauge sits enthroned at the foot of the pump. The hose length of 97 centimeters offers a lot of freedom when inflating. The duo head makes it possible to inflate tires with Schrader, Dunlop and Presta valves. Cleverly solved: Two additional adapters for balls and air mattresses are hidden in the handle.

function and feel

With a maximum pump capacity of 5,5 bar, the Fischer MTB floor pump Plus Volume is primarily aimed at mountain bikers. Filling tires on trekking, city and gravel bikes is also no problem. Thanks to the generously dimensioned pump body, inflation is quite quick. The double base ensures a secure footing, at least when both treads are used. With increasing pressure, however, more effort is required to press the air into the tire or tube. The overall height of the pump also results in a rather unfavorable working position. When fully extended, the handle is at a height of about 130 centimeters, approximately at chest height.

Conclusion Fischer MTB floor pump Plus Volume

Good ideas with slight weaknesses. The quality of the Fischer MTB floor pump is just as convincing at a price of less than 28 euros as the good readability of the analogue pressure gauge. The increased effort at higher air pressures and the unfavorable working position when pumping are somewhat negative.
