First race – First win of the season. With a perfect start into the year 2022 Caleb ewan (Lotto – Soudal) started racing at the Saudi Tour. In the mass sprint he was unbeatable after 199 kilometers. The little Australian sat down in front of the Estonian Martin Lass (Bora – hansgrohe) and the Colombian Fernando Gaviria (UAE) by. Ewan still has to get used to his newly formed sprint train. But he was already full of praise for the excellent preparation. Especially from German Rüdiger Selig (Lotto – Soudal) he seems enthusiastic. Felix Gross (UAE) from Germany was sixth on the day - and that as a driver of Gaviria. Today's Wednesday the Saudi Tour continues with a 163,9 kilometer long and slightly bumpy section.
Caleb ewan of Rüdiger Selig:
“He did a great job today. It was very hectic on the gravel section, also with a few falls. We did everything to drive from the front in this sector, and the team did a great job there too.”
