12 February 2022 by Michael Behringer

Charming Tour of Oman

Cycling: Anthon Charmig won the third stage of the Tour of Oman and can celebrate his first professional victory. The Dane sprinted uphill in the final meters with an impressive acceleration past everyone to victory - and the overall lead.

Charming with the most explosive start

Already did on the Saudi tour Anthony Charming (Uno-X) attracted attention with strong performances. Now he has also managed to get his reward on the third stage of the Tour of Oman. The only 23-year-old Dane sprinted past everyone on the last few meters of the 2,8-kilometre final climb with an average gradient of 6,9 percent to win the day. He also left the previously escaped Czech Jan Hirt (Intermarché – Wanty – Gobert Matériaux) behind, who was the only competitor with the same time and is therefore second in the overall standings, four seconds behind. The Frenchman completes the podium Elie Gesbert (Arkea – Samsic). The Swiss Mauro Schmid (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) was tenth. The eleventh Tour of Oman will be decided on the most demanding section on Monday.
