Cycling: Mark Cavendish won the Milan – Turin one-day race. Nokere Koerse also goes to Tim Merlier in the sprint.
Kanter finishes fourth in Cavendish win
He's still one of the fastest. Mark Cavendish (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) proved in the Milan-Turin one-day race that it's still tough to beat. After 199 kilometers from Magenta to Rivoli, as expected, there was a mass sprint. The Brit won this ahead of the French Bouhanni born (Arkéa – Samsic) and the Norwegian alexander kristoff (Intermarché - Wanty - Gobert Matériaux). The German Max Kanter (Movistar) drove a sensational fourth place – still ahead Peter Sagan (Total Energies). The Slovak comes to Milan on time – Sanremo seems to be getting better and better.

Only Merlier is faster than Walscheid
almost had Max Walscheid (Cofidis) pulled off a little surprise at the Nokere Koerse one-day race. The German was second fastest in the mass sprint and only had to win the day Tim Merlier (Alpecin – Fenix) defeated. In the past he was a pure sprinter, but Max Walscheid has meanwhile developed into a top time trialist and therefore only rarely showed his sprinter qualities in the past season. After his move to the French team Cofidis, he now seems to be at the front again in the sprints. The podium completes Arnaud de Lie (Lotto – Soudal). Pascal Ackermann (UAE) will not be satisfied again in ninth place.
