The new Merida Time Warp: With disc brakes for more performance?!

March 29, 2022 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The Merida Time Warp has been the fastest racing machine from the German manufacturer for years and is aimed specifically at time trialists and triathletes. While the Merida Time Warp underwent a major overhaul for the 2019 season, in which it shed around 400 grams and gained an overall advantage of 9 watts at 50 km/h over its predecessor, the latest version now makes further progress with newly acquired disc brakes. Not only better braking performance, but also more tire clearance and improved comfort should be promoted.

Already last year, attentive cycling fans could spot the new Merida Time Warp time trial bike with disc brakes at Team Bahrain-Victorious. Now everyone has the opportunity to make this their own. Because when every fraction of a second counts, the smallest advantage can make the difference between victory and defeat.

With the race proven aerodynamics of the previous generation comes the integration of disc brakes for even better performance. Because of the reliable braking performance and the improved dosing in all weather conditions, disc brakes ensure that you have to brake later, which gives you seconds on certain routes. The switch to disc brakes also allows the fitment of tires up to 28mm, further reducing rolling resistance and improving grip. The thru-axles are also aerodynamically perfectly integrated into the fork and frame to ensure minimal air resistance and easy handling.

While the Merida Time Warp TT ensures perfect power transmission and acceleration with its rigidity, the latest version has also been equipped with an S-Flex seat post to minimize unpleasant vibrations and absorb shocks.

The new Time Warp time trial machine will only be available as a frame kit and includes a frame, fork, seat post, headset and Vision Aero base bar Metron TT. This features fully integrated cable routing for brake and shift cables, easy cockpit adjustment for a perfect rider position, and proven TT geometry.

More than Florian Nowak

Florian Nowak is a professional cyclist at the EuropeTour level and has competed in many international races. At the German championship in 2017, he was the best non-WorldTour professional in 7th place and was therefore able to recommend himself for the Tour de L'Avenir and the World Championships. But he doesn't just feel comfortable on the racing bike, he's also always drawn to off-road terrain. In addition to sport, he works on his second mainstay and has completed his business administration studies at the LMU Munich.
