assona BikeProtect E-Power: The insurance for e-bikes, S-pedelecs and e-scooters

12 May 2022 by Caspar Gebel

assona BikeProtect

With good insurance, e-bikes, S-pedelecs or e-scooters are twice as much fun. With the BikeProtect E-Power, Assona offers a tailor-made insurance package for practical vehicles - Velomotion provides all the information.

Who can get through town the fastest – e-bike, speed pedelec or e-scooter? The new forms of mobility have thoroughly mixed up traffic, above all the e-bike. And it doesn't matter which of the three you choose: with assona BikeProtect E-Power you have the best all-round insurance, and at a reasonable rate - especially if you choose a more expensive e-bike.

Uniform tariff for three vehicle types

With a uniform offer for the three very different vehicle types, assona provides an overview in the thicket of tariffs. Everyone knows the e-bike: The electric bike, whose drive support pushes up to 25 km/h, is legally equivalent to a bicycle and can therefore be used flexibly. Selling millions of times, the e-bike is now part of everyday life – and with prices starting at around 2.000 euros in specialist shops, it is affordable for many.

Used millions of times, the e-bike is now an indispensable part of everyday mobility - and an investment that should definitely be insured.

E-scooters are gradually replacing the rattling two- or four-stroke engines with a displacement of 50 ccm. The quiet and clean mobility alternative attracts with a lot of driving fun and practical benefits, especially since two people can ride on most scooters, and at speeds of up to 45 km/h, which is easy to get along with in city traffic. The S-Pedelec is somewhere between these two concepts: it looks like an e-bike, but with pedal assistance it travels at up to 45 km/h. As with e-scooters, motor vehicles are subject to compulsory insurance and helmets, and can only be driven on the street.

Typical S-Pedelec: side mirrors, ball-shaped brake levers ...
... and of course the insurance number.

Comprehensively insured with assona

What does the specialist insurer assona offer its users? On the one hand, BikeProtect E-Power protects against theft, burglary and vandalism; something that threatens the two-wheelers permanently parked outside. On the other hand, the policy also covers accident and fall damage, which means that it takes on the tasks of a classic comprehensive insurance policy - important for value retention, especially since a mishap can easily happen with a heavy scooter. The assumption of wear and tear damage through to battery damage, which is not unusual after several years of intensive use of e-bikes and S-pedelecs, is particularly interesting for frequent riders. Worn tires and brake pads, especially on scooters, are not something that you simply change yourself, and assona will also pay for the workshop costs that arise as a result. As the icing on the cake, the insurer adds a mobility protection package that offers extensive benefits in the event of a breakdown or accident. This includes the transport to a workshop as well as the transfer of the vehicle to the home location; accommodation costs incurred, for example, due to the interruption of a trip, are also covered.

As a new, attractive player in road traffic, e-scooters are ...
... and S-Pedelec ideal for routes of medium length.

Inexpensive tariffs for a large scope of services

This comprehensive service package is surprisingly cheap: the tariff is based on the new price and is twelve euros per month for a 2.000-euro bike or scooter; a vehicle that is twice as expensive costs just four euros more. And in the price range up to 8.000 euros, the monthly amount is 21 euros. There is a XNUMX percent discount for "connected bikes" that can be located using a GPS module, for example with anti-theft protection.

That's not a lot of money for the good feeling of not only moving quickly but also carefree on the road. And so the question is not even whether the BikeProtect E-Power is taken out with or shortly after the new purchase from assona - but whether it should be an e-bike, an S-Pedelec or an e-scooter that has the insurance cover enjoy.
