German championship: Brennauer & Kämna become time trial champions

June 24, 2022 by Michael Behringer

Kämna German Championship Brennauer

Cycling: Lennard Kämna is the new German champion in time trials. Lisa Brennauer can look forward to her fifth title in the women's category. Curious: Ricarda Bauernfeind was even faster in the U23 class.

Kämna follows Martin

On the 27,5 kilometer course around Marsberg Lennard Kamna (Bora – hansgrohe) lived up to its role as favourite. The 25-year-old won by a margin of 15 and 24 seconds respectively Jannik Steimle (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) and his teammate Nils Politt (Bora – hansgrohe). He succeeds Tony Martin, who has secured the title for the past nine years. Favorit triumphed in the U23 class Maurice Ballerstedt (Alpecin-Fenix).

Brennauer gets her fifth title

Nothing new with the ladies. Lisa Brennauer (Ceratizit WNT) defended her time trial title at the German Championship. As in the previous year, the experienced 34-year-old was able to advance by 27,5 seconds on the 14-kilometer course in Marsberg Lisa Klein (Canyon Sram) prevail. Completed with rank three Hannah Ludwig (Uno-X) the podium. At the finish she was 25 seconds behind the old and new German champions, although she was still in the lead at the intermediate time. Of all the participants, Lisa Brennauer divided her race best, so that she can now look forward to winning her fifth title. The only 22-year-old delivered an impressive performance Ricarda Bauerfeind (Canyon Sram) off. In the U23 class, she won the title with a lead of more than two minutes and was even 19 seconds faster than Brennauer.
