Cycling: Lorena Wiebes also won the fifth stage and thus her second at the Tour de France Femmes. The Dutch won the mass sprint in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges ahead of Italy's Elisa Balsamo and her compatriot Marianne Vos.
Wiebes asserts himself confidently
Wearing her green jersey, Lorena Wiebes (DSM) secured her second stage win at this year's Tour de France Femmes after 175,6 kilometers from Bar-le-Duc to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges. The 23-year-old Dutchwoman once again proved to be the fastest woman in the peloton on the flat stage, winning the mass sprint. Italian Elisa Balsamo (Trek-Segafredo) and Dutch rider Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) finished second and third, respectively. Vos thus retained her yellow jersey. Fourth overall rider Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo) was unable to truly participate in the mass sprint. The Italian took a wrong turn in the final kilometer and finished only 62nd – though she did avoid losing any time.
