Cycling: Marc Soler has won the fifth stage of the Vuelta a Espana. As a breakaway, the Spaniard was able to prevail over South African Daryl Impey. Jumbo - Visma handed over the red jersey. The new wearer is Rudy Molard.
Soler saves four seconds across the finish line
For the second time in his career Marc Soler (UAE) won a stage at the Vuelta a Espana. The Spaniard was part of a breakaway from which he managed to break free and save four seconds to the finish. On the 187,2 kilometer route from Irún to Bilbao, the Alto del Vivero had to be crossed twice in the last third of the race. The South African won the sprint of the pursuers Daryl Impey (Israel – Premier Tech) ahead of the Brit Fred Wright (Bahrain-Victorious). The red jersey, however, gets the stage fourth rudy molard (Groupama – FDJ) from France. of Germany Nickias Arndt (DSM) was in the top group as well as Gregor Muehlberger (Movistar). At the end of the day, they occupy sixth and ninth place. Primois Roglic (Jumbo – Visma) seemed to deliberately give up the red jersey. He is now more than four minutes behind in the overall standings.
