Cycling: On the third day of the World Cycling Championships in Wollongong, the BDR can celebrate two more medals. Justyna Czapla won silver in the junior women's time trial. As expected, the gold went to Brit Zoe Backstedt. The Brit Joshua Tarling triumphed in the juniors. Germany's Emil Herzog finished third and took bronze.
Juniors: Backstedt is in her own league
That Zoe Backstedt is one of the most talented professional cyclists in the world, we already knew. In the night from Monday to Tuesday, she once again expressly demonstrated this in Wollongong, Australia. The Briton confidently won the juniors' individual time trial with a lead of no less than 1:35 minutes - even though only 14,1 kilometers had to be covered. The European champion can decide about the silver medal Justyna Czapla from Germany, who made it possible for the BDR to win their second medal at these World Championships. Bronze went to the Belgian in a heart-stopping final febe jooris, which within the same second as the Czech Eliska Kvasnickova and just a second ahead of the Dutch woman Anna van der Meiden reached the goal.

Juniors: Tarling destroys McKenzie's dream
The Australians almost got their first home win in the juniors. Hamish McKenzie was in the lead for a long time and was allowed to sit in the hot seat. But then came Joshua Tarling. The Brit really wanted to secure the gold medal – and followed his wish with deeds. In the end, he took 19 seconds off the local hero. At least he can look forward to silver. Bronze goes to the Germans Emil Herzog, who lost 33 seconds and thus the Swiss Jan Christen could leave behind. He was struggling with technical problems and therefore lost the chance of winning a medal.
