Shimano Gravel Shoes: The new RX8 and RX8R

17 October 2022 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The RX8 and the RX8R are the new Shimano Gravel shoes, which are particularly aimed at performance-oriented riders. While the new RX8, with its lightweight construction, was specially developed for pure gravel racers, the RX8R comes with sewn-in ankle cuffs for better protection during demanding gravel adventures.

The updated RX801 model improves upon SHIMANO's popular featherweight RX8 gravel racing shoe, offering a more breathable design with a super stiff and efficient carbon outsole for your greatest efforts on the bike. The RX801 combines the top performance features of SHIMANO's premium mountain bike and road racing shoes into a shoe that balances pedaling performance and off-the-bike ability.

Shimano Gravel Shoes: Optimized fit for better performance

Whether you're driving on smooth gravel roads or climbing up chunky forest roads, the RX801 offers maximum efficiency and comfort on all types of terrain. A wider contact patch and built-in heel stabilizer increase control, while the Surround Wrapping Upper construction wraps the foot for an optimal fit. New to the RX801 model is a range of half sizes to allow more riders to experience the snug, secure and seamless fit.

The new low-profile BOA Li2 dial with rubber grip allows for quick and precise micro-adjustments, so you can easily dial in your preferred fit to avoid pressure points on longer, adventurous races. Shimano's Dynalast technology keeps your foot locked in place, while a stiff and lightweight carbon composite sole enhances every pedal stroke for a smooth, powerful ride.

The integrated gaiter eliminates the space between foot and shoe for protection from the elements and offers unparalleled long-distance comfort.
