Cycling: Lea Sophie Friedrich is the German heroine of the track cycling world championships in the Vélodrome National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. After placing in the top 3 in the team sprint and sprint, she crowned herself with gold in the keirin on Sunday.
Brausse wins gold in the one-man pursuit
With an impeccable performance Franziska Brausse secured the gold medal in the individual pursuit on Saturday. In the final she was able to assert herself confidently against the New Zealander Bryony Botha and thus succeeded her compatriot Lisa Brennauer. Mike Kroeger just missed bronze. She was intercepted by the British Josie Knight at the last moment. Also had to admit defeat Emma Hinze in the 500 meter time trial. France's Taky Marie-Divine Kouamé won the gold medal near Paris. Bronze went to China's Guo Yufang.

Friedrich defends her keirin title
On the last day of the track cycling world championships in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines there should be another medal for the Germans. As in the previous year, the Keirin was Leah Sophie Friedrich unable to be stopped. With that, the German secured her third medal at this World Championships, after having celebrated in the team sprint and in the sprint. Silver went to Mina Sato from Japan ahead of Steffie van der Peet from the Netherlands. The track cycling world championships once again ended with a strong performance by the BDR women.
