The new Wahoo Element Roam: Better navigation thanks to dual-band GPS

4 October 2022 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The Wahoo Elemnt Roam has been one of the most popular GPS bike computers on the market for years. The computer is characterized by its intuitive operation, precise navigation and excellent connectivity. The US manufacturer announced its latest Roam with a number of improvements such as dual-band GPS for even better navigation functions, updated Summit Segments Climb, higher-contrast screen and expanded storage capacity.

The new Wahoo Elemnt Roam is designed to help cyclists ride further, longer, and explore new roads and trails. With dual-band GPS, improved navigation, updated Summit Segments Climb, higher-contrast screen and expanded storage capacity, a host of new features have been packed into the GPS bike computer.

The focus is on navigating the design and development of the new computer. This makes the Roam the most powerful and intuitive GPS bike computer in the Wahoo ecosystem. That's why the new Roam features dual-band GPS, allowing for improved and more accurate navigation, especially when driving in areas where GPS reception can be limited.

Especially when exploring, nothing can be worse than not knowing when the climb will finally be over or which steep challenges still have to be mastered. The updated Summit Segments Climb feature makes it even easier for cyclists to review the course of a climb. This already popular feature now automatically detects inclines in a pre-loaded route, displays any climbs already climbed and allows the rider to view more detailed information about the current or upcoming inclines on their ride.

So that you can keep an eye on everything while driving, the new Wahoo Elemnt Roam has a new, high-contrast 64-color screen that allows easy navigation through the different training screens. At the same time, the readability of more detailed map data and color-coded charts, graphics and data fields have been optimized.

So that you can use your new Wahoo Elemnt Roam even longer, the storage capacity of the bike computer has been increased to 32 GB, which allows the cyclist to manage and save more map packages and saved routes. In addition, there is an extra-long battery life of 17 hours, which means that you can benefit from the full range of functions of the new Wahoo even longer on the ride.

“We are incredibly proud to announce the latest in our cycle computer range. The new Elemnt Roam makes the riders' GPS experience as seamless and accurate as possible, while providing unmatched data accuracy for athletes in a simple, easy-to-use product. The Roam was launched three years ago with the aim of enabling cyclists to ride further and explore new frontiers. The new computer with its numerous new features builds on this mission and positions this product as the premier bike computer for every cyclist looking for performance, ease of use and unmatched routing capabilities. The integrated capabilities of Wahoo X and Roam are another step forward in building the most innovative and connected ecosystem for cyclists and endurance athletes.” - Mike Saturnia, CEO of Wahoo

Along with updates and improvements, the Roam bike computer also comes with a whole host of new features, including USB-C charging capabilities, convex buttons, an ambient light sensor, perfect zoom options, Quicklook LEDs, on-device intelligent navigation, and seamless multisport handover. The new Roam devices also integrate with the Supersapiens glucose sensor system, allowing drivers to keep a constant eye on their glucose data while driving, without the need for a phone.

The new Elemnt Roam in the Wahoo ecosystem

The new Wahoo Elemnt Roam fits seamlessly into Wahoo's connected ecosystem of indoor and outdoor training solutions. Now riders can sync their workouts on the Roam with their Wahoo X subscription, giving them access to structured outdoor workouts and a full indoor and outdoor workout history in the Wahoo Systm app. The computer also controls all Kickr Smart Trainers and Kickr Bike, and pairs with all other connected Wahoo devices. This gives cyclists the ultimate flexibility when it comes to their training, whether indoors or outdoors.
