Top 10 Drivers 2022: 5th place – Patrick Konrad convinces in France

27 November 2022 by Michael Behringer

Conrad France

Cycling: Patrick Konrad was not able to celebrate a single win in the 2022 season. Nevertheless, the Austrian is one of the strongest German-speaking drivers of the year. The 31-year-old was in good shape, especially in France.

No win of the season for Konrad

For Patrick Konrad, the 2022 season did not go according to plan. Measured by his skills and the number of points he has accumulated over the past few years, the past few months have actually been more of a step backwards. Nevertheless, the Austrian has achieved at least three notable results. At the Critérium du Dauphiné, he showed what he can do with twelfth place overall. Only a few weeks later he underlined this again at the Tour de France. He finished the most important Grand Tour of the year in 15th place. The Austrian has never been so far ahead in France.

Konrad leads Haller to victory in Hamburg

At the end of August Patrick Konrad went to Germany to the BEMER Cyclassics. Actually, the one-day race in Hamburg is not necessarily a profile that suits him. But together with teammate and compatriot Marco Haller, the 31-year-old was finally able to break away from the peloton. The problem: Wout van Aert was also there and therefore first place was actually taken. But the two boys from Bora - hansgrohe knew how to deal with the situation perfectly. Konrad put himself in the service of Haller and he actually won the race. Fifth place remained for Konrad himself and once again proof that you can always rely on him as an important helper.
