Team introduction: Jumbo - Visma remains the number 1 in road cycling

24 December 2022 by Michael Behringer

Jumbo-Visma 2023

Cycling: What a successful year it has been for Jumbo - Visma. After many attempts, the overall victory at the Tour de France was finally achieved. And the competition will have to dress warmly, because the Dutch team will continue to improve.

Jumbo – Visma is in a league of its own

It's probably not surprising that Team Jumbo - Visma has put the best team on the road in the last three years. If the Dutch team only collected 2020 points in 9.923, a year later it was already 12.935 points. This season, however, this value could be topped again. With 15.135 points, Jumbo - Visma 2022 collected by far the most. There are 48 wins, 44 second places and 28 third places. The highlight of the year was undoubtedly the Tour de France, which you can see in the person of jonas vingegaard surprisingly won. What was particularly impressive, however, was the manner in which the successes were achieved. Jumbo – Visma always acted as a cohesive team that sacrificed themselves for each other and was also tactically ahead of the competition. The success of is symbolic of this Christopher Laporte, who is on a stage of the Tour de France for wout van aert jumped in and promptly clinched the day's win. The Belgian himself won the green jersey, two stages and almost the mountain jersey in passing. Incidentally, he was probably the most important helper for his captain on any terrain.

Can the team get even stronger? Yes!

Our preview of Tom Dumoulin and Mike Teunissen Jumbo - Visma loses two well-known drivers. But in the past two years, the two were Dutch – as were the other departures Chris Harper, Pascal Eenkhoorn and David Decker – no longer available for top results. Accordingly, the departures do not carry too much weight. But Jumbo - Visma has strengthened again. wilco kelderman and Attila Valter join the team and will immediately be of great help in the high mountains. all-rounder Jan Tratnik can be used anywhere and is a valuable team member on a grand tour as well as on the classics. In the future, Wout van Aert will also be there Dylan van baarle act successfully in the jersey of Jumbo - Visma. The Dutchman won Paris – Roubaix this year and has thus finally moved up into the first league of classic specialists. The fifth and last newcomer is called Thomas Gloag. As a 21-year-old, the Briton is still a blank slate in professional cycling. We will probably rarely see him.
