Bicycle tool test: The Pedro's Pro Burrito tool set includes 24 tools in a compact roll-up case and is therefore recommended for mobile use. Equipped with the X-frame system, the flexible role can also be converted into a rigid tool palette if required. Not only does it sound interesting – it is!
General information about the manufacturer
The Pedro's brand was founded in 1989 by Bruce Fina and Andrew Herrick. In the beginning, everything revolved around the revolutionary Syn Lube chain lubricant, which was specially developed for extremely muddy conditions. By 2000, Pedro's added a full line of professional tools, positioning itself as the complete bike maintenance brand. Most Pedro's tools and accessories are designed and engineered in the United States and manufactured in Taiwan.
Pedro's Pro Burrito Bike Tool: First Impression
Unrolled, the Pro Burrito has an area of about 60 x 40 cm. Tools are housed in many different sized compartments, including a zippered mesh pocket for storing small items or additional tools. The unused compartments allow easy retrofitting with individually required tools. When rolled up, the robust bag takes up around 40 x 19 x 7,5 cm of space. The X-frame rods for conversion to a rigid tool palette are attached externally. The stiffening of the bag is done in a few simple steps.
Processing and feel
The bike tools are top class in terms of both quality and feel. All tools are really comfortable to hold and enable very efficient work. The extremely high-quality chain gauge, the disc wrench and the robust chain tool are particularly outstanding. The powerful pedal wrench has two direct functions. In addition to the eponymous purpose, it also serves as a 24 mm socket driver for the sprocket puller. The chain whip, which has a special latch to prevent the chain from flying off, is just as great.
Which repairs are possible and can the tool convince in use?
With the 24 tools, many repairs to the bike can be tackled. In addition to the tools already mentioned, there is an Allen key set, two screwdrivers, a cable cutter, chain link pliers, a nipple wrench, a cleaning brush and two very stable tire levers. However, Pedro's Pro Burrito also has some elementary gaps. We are missing a chain ring wrench, two cone wrenches, a crank puller and a larger selection of Torx keys. A torque wrench would of course also be desirable.
