Higuita sprints to first win of the season

After 22 kilometers in Amorebieta, only 164,5 men remained in the fight for the day's victory. Sergio Higuita (Bora – hansgrohe) was finally able to prevail in the sprint of the decimated peloton on the fifth stage of the Tour of the Basque Country. There were only small shifts in the overall standings because of the bonus seconds in the intermediate sprints. jonas vingegaard (Jumbo – Visma) remains in the yellow jersey. Today's stage was marked by two escapees from the same team. Soudal – Quick-Step dared with the Italian Mattia Cattaneo and the French Remi Cavagna a double attack. However, this failed because both pros were caught more than ten kilometers before the finish line.
