E-MTB product news: It's here, a Race E-Enduro from the popular direct mailer... Canyon Strive:ON. You can read everything you need to know here!
It's 9 MAY 2023, so it's been nine years since Fabien Barel's first EWS win in Finale Ligure in 2014. According to Canyon, enduro as a racing sport is a central part of the Canyon Strive's DNA. Almost a decade later, with the E-Enduro World Cup, a completely new, electrified category was established and it was only a matter of time for Canyon to attack here. The Strive:ON is based on the carbon technology of the normal Strive and is intended to be a thoroughbred race e-MTB that offers enormous power and endless grip for steep, technical climbs and inspires with speed and agile handling on downhills.
E-enduro races are in a class of their own, often lasting just under four hours and over 3.000 meters in altitude. When you add in the notorious technical power stages, it takes a really special bike to be at the forefront. That's what the new bike needs to meet, so Canyon's designers and engineers built the Strive:ON from the ground up specifically for enduro racing, they say. All Strive:ON models are based on a light and, according to Canyon, extremely strong CFR carbon frame and have modern race geometry and a mullet wheelset. The result is said to offer the perfect blend of stability at high speeds and impressive agility in tight trails and corners.
In addition to the progressive geometry and, according to Canyon, the perfectly tuned chassis with 160 mm of rear suspension travel and the race-proven frame, the Strive:ON has the Bosch Performance Line CX and CX Race motors. The system delivers up to 600 watts of peak power and a torque of 85 Nm, which means that even the toughest technical uphill stages can be mastered at speed. The motors are powered by large SmartTube batteries with 625 or 750 Wh battery capacity, which means that riders are spoiled for choice between lower weight or maximum range, depending on the requirements of the day. The motor and chainring are also protected by a motocross-inspired skid plate that attaches directly to the motor to take the fright out of malicious rocks and obstacles on technical stages.
Opting for the Shapeshifter and switching to the horizontal damper position, which Canyon also uses in the rest of the Gravity range, allows for a bottle mount integrated into the frame, additional storage space in the top tube and creates enough space for both the 625 and 750 Wh battery are available in every frame size of the Strive:ON.
The Strive:ON CFR LTD sets the tone for the entire lineup and features a custom paint job co-developed with DH and enduro legend Fabien Barel. In addition to the high-end components, the Strive:ON CFR LTD is equipped with the limited Bosch Performance Line CX Race Motor.
The CX Race motor is the same size and profile as the standard CX motor, but is 150g lighter and increases pedaling assistance from 340% to 400%. In addition, it has a more dynamic power development and an extended caster function. The latter improves climbing ability.
