Evenepoel wins and has to go in the pink jersey
What a tragedy. Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick-Step) has tested positive for the coronavirus. As announced on Sunday evening, the Belgian will therefore Tour of Italy leave. Just a few hours earlier, the world champion also won the second time trial. He conquered the pink jersey from Andreas Leknessund (DSM) back. Started as the top favorite in the Giro d'Italia, the Tour of Italy ends in such a tragic way for him. The Brit is the new overall leader Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers).
Remco Evenepoel:
“It's really a shame to have to leave the race like this. The experience of this Giro d'Italia was very special for me. I was really looking forward to the next two weeks. I can't thank my teammates enough for how much they sacrificed for me. I will be cheering for them from home for the next two weeks.”

I've been wondering for months why the professional cyclists and teams are so relaxed about the topic #Corona evade. They give interviews & autographs. They expose themselves to the risk of infection, even though they know that if they test positive they are out. #evenepoel #RemcoEvenepoel
