Cycling: Liane Lippert successfully defended her German championship title on the road in Bad Dürrheim. The 25-year-old won as a soloist with a lead of more than a minute.
Liane Lippert is crowned for the third time
Liane Lippert (Movistar), the overwhelming favorite, won the German Championship in Bad Dürrheim. The defending champion broke away from the peloton on a descent well before the finish. The extremely challenging course suited the strong climber perfectly, as a proper peloton had already dissolved by the halfway point. With today's victory, Liane Lippert celebrates her third elite women's road cycling title. Second place went to Kathrin Hammes (EF Education-TIBCO-SVB), ahead of Romy Kasper (AG Insurance – Soudal – Quick-Step).
