Specialized Turbo Levo SL Kids: THE e-bike for young bikers?!

June 13, 2023 by Florian Nowak

Product news: The Specialized Turbo Levo SL is one of the most popular light E-MTBs. According to their own statements, the latest model is even the ultimate trail bike from the US manufacturer. So that even the youngest cyclists can benefit from such performance and lots of riding fun, the Californians are now coming up with the new Specialized Turbo Levo SL Kids E-MTB. The aim was to develop an E-MTB that is specifically geared to the needs of children and young people in order to be able to offer an ideal setup.

Based on the "big" models, the new Specialized Turbo Levo SL Kids E-MTB was specially developed for the youngest cyclists in order to offer budding mountain bikers the right support in a completely new way.

Successor to DAS Light E-MTB presented

To this end, every detail of the Levo SL Kids has been designed to perfectly suit young bikers. With its 16,6 kilograms, the bike offers an appealing weight, which should enable child-friendly handling. The in-house Turbo 1.2 drive system with its 320 Wh also provides the necessary power and range for the Levo SL Kids. With a specific setup, it increases the children's pedaling power so gently and naturally that the result is a completely authentic driving experience - only with more power and range than normal. Thanks to various smart features, the system tracks the individual trips, which can help to improve the individual settings and thus the driving experience.

All distances, lengths and angles of the Specialized Turbo Levo SL Kids have been checked and confirmed in cooperation with the Retül bike fitting experts. The slack steering angle and the extended reach ensure greater stability, directional stability and smooth running on the trail, while the short chain stays ensure maximum maneuverability and better responsiveness. The Levo SL Kids also scores with a low standover height. These harmonizing features are intended to give the e-bike a balanced character for lots of riding fun.

So that you can have this riding fun for a long time, the Levo SL Kids uses a single frame size, which with 24-inch wheels should fit children from 122 to 152 cm and aged 6 to 11 years.

Anyone who has taken a closer look at (e-)bikes for children in the past will find that rather poor components are often used, which of course is counterproductive for a pleasant riding experience and decent performance. According to the manufacturer, the Levo SL Kids was designed with the intention of taking the demands of young riders seriously and presenting it with equipment that promises safety, trust and kilometers of riding fun. A closer look at the Tech Sheets can certainly confirm this, because a RockShox Reba Air suspension fork with 100mm of travel or a Sram NX gear system, hydraulic Level T disc brakes with adjustable levers and a lowerable seat post are used.
