Cycling: The German women can look forward to the second stage win at the Tour de France Femmes. Ricarda Bauernfeind won the fifth stage in Albi, celebrating the greatest success of her career. The Bavarian-born 23-year-old triumphed after an impressive 36km solo.
Bauernfeind races solo to win the day
The Tour de France Femmes 2023 seems to be the breakthrough for the German women. After Liana Lippert (Movistar) who has already won a stage was allowed to do so today Ricarda Bauerfeind (Canyon//SRAM) cheer. After 126 kilometers from Onet-le-Château to Albi, the only 23-year-old could hardly believe her luck. Instead of raising her arms in the air, she just slapped her hand over her face in complete disbelief. But it's true: Ricarda Bauernfeind won a Tour de France stage and thus achieved the greatest success of her young career. The Swiss secured herself 22 seconds behind her Marlene Reusser (SD Worx – Protime) Second place ahead of Liane Lippert (Movistar).
