Cycling: Mads Pedersen won the BEMER Cyclassics Hamburg. The Dane confirmed his current top form at the one-day race in Germany by closing the gap to the escape group in the last kilometer and then winning the sprint.
Pedersen is in the best shape of his life
Just won yesterday Mads pedersen (Lidl – Trek) completed the Tour of Denmark with an impressive performance in the individual time trial. Today he confirmed his top form with another success. After 205,6 kilometers, the Dane was able to celebrate in Hamburg - and not after a classic mass sprint. Because it was Mads Pedersen himself who closed the gap to the three escapees in the last 1.000 meters Nils Politt (Bora – hansgrohe) had to close. He eluded the entire peloton, caught up with the leading trio and finally won the sprint. Second place went Danny van Poppel (Bora – hansgrohe), who after the departure of his teammate Sam Bennett was the first choice in the mass sprint for the German racing team. The podium is completed by the Italian Elia Viviani (Ineos Grenadiers), who has won here three times in his career.
