Cycling: Remco Evenepoel won stage 18 of the Vuelta a Espana and celebrated his third victory of the day. Jumbo – Visma seemed to have changed its mind after yesterday's criticism. Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic drove for Sepp Kuss.
Evenepoel clears every mountain classification
It was clear early on on today's 178,9 kilometer long stage from Pola de Allande to La Cruz de Linares that the day's winner would come from the breakaway group. 14 drivers including Remco Evenepoel (Soudal – Quick Step), Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) and Damian Caruso (Bahrain – Victorious), as well as the German Nico Denz (Bora – hansgrohe), were awarded a lead of over ten minutes. Evenepoel was rightly considered the strongest man in the escape group. The Belgian not only won every mountain classification, but also rode from the front most of the time. The development of the lead on the final climb was particularly impressive. Although the group of favorites Jumbo – Visma and Bahrain – Victorious kept the pace high, the former world champion hardly lost any of his lead.
Jumbo – Visma drives for Sepp Kuss
There was a lot of criticism after yesterday's stage for the Jumbo - Visma team, even though they took the first three places. Fans and journalists couldn't understand why jonas vingegaard and Primois Roglic attacked their own man in the red jersey. Today they seem to have changed their tactics, as the Slovenian and the Dane are always there on the final climb Sepp kuss remained. The American remained confident and continues to lead the overall standings.
