Test: The manufacturer made a conscious decision not to give in completely to the trend towards full integration and minimalist design, and thus focused on the functionality of its diamond zing. The result should be a sporty response, a low system weight and practical handling. We tested the Diamant Zing Gen 2 e-bike for trekking use.
The Diamant Zing of the second generation puts a few things in the background in favor of functionality, because the manufacturer deliberately refrains from hiding the battery and can therefore be recognized as a real e-bike without hesitation. However, the frame construction with an external battery ensures that the bike could be designed much lighter, more robust and more practical. According to the manufacturer, the new Diamant Zing is significantly lighter in weight and has a possible range that is up to 60% higher than that of the first generation. The equipment of the Zing is also impressive, because with a Bosch Performance Line CX drive, Suntour suspension fork, Shimano Deore rear derailleur and features suitable for everyday use such as lights, luggage racks and mudguards, you are equipped for everything.
The Diamant Zing Gen 2 in the test
We can already say this much: the Diamant Zing is a lot of fun. This is primarily due less to a specific property than to a successful combination of various features. The main reason for this is certainly the Bosch Performance Line CX motor, which ensured sporty driving behavior on our test drives. Our test bike with a whopping 725 Wh battery provided powerful and long-lasting support on almost any type of adventure. You can also choose the 545 Wh version when purchasing. In general, the handling of the Zing in the second generation has been significantly improved thanks to the battery located on the outside of the wheel.
The seating position is comfortable and not too stretched and the ergonomics at all contact points were extremely pleasant. Here you can tell that thought has been put into it and that the bike is specifically designed for touring riders. The voluminous Schwalbe tires on the 27.5″ wheels in combination with the Suntour XCR 32 suspension fork offer additional comfort and safety, which reliably cushions bumps and bumps and keeps the rider on track thanks to pleasant handling.
