Although the Fazua Ride 50 has been on the market in its original form under the name Evation for several years, it continues to enjoy great popularity. This is mainly thanks to its unique design, which allows the entire motor and battery to be removed in one unit. This is how you turn the e-bike into a bio-bike and save over three kilograms of weight. Depending on the area of use or the bike installed, the Ride 50 is available in the Trail or Street versions, which only differ in the design of the cooling fins on the underside. Together they have a torque of 58 Nm, which translated into decent performance values in our test bench measurements. Nevertheless, the Ride 50 is a rather reserved light engine, which of course has its strengths in other areas. Regardless of the support provided, it is one of the absolute quietest pedalers, and the response is also pleasing. The drive works very smoothly and feels correspondingly natural. There is no unpleasant pushing or jerking to be heard. It is particularly suitable for e-mountain bikers who have no problem pedaling a bit themselves and can also cope well with higher cadence. In addition, it has a real ace up its sleeve because it can be removed - ideal for days in the bike park, for example, where the lift is available as a climbing aid.
The batteries
In the case of the Fazua Ride 50, the battery issue can only be viewed partially separately from the motor, because both together form a closed and removable unit. This special design is unique, and it is not surprising that there is only one battery option with a capacity of 250 Wh. It should be noted that only the newer battery called Energy 250X can be “waked up” by the control panel. The predecessor Energy 250 has to be removed to switch it on if it has switched to sleep mode after a few hours of non-use.
The displays
For the Ride 50 drive system, Fazua offers three control panels for different e-bike categories. The most popular is probably the Remote fX integrated into the frame, whose touch surface allows you to change the support level. On some E-MTBs, however, there is the Remote bX on the handlebars, which connects the touch surface and button. The Remote rX is designed specifically for e-gravel bikes and racing bikes. All controls have LEDs to provide information about battery status and support.
