Cycling gloves in the test: Specialized NeoShell Gloves

15 November 2023 by the editorial office

Specialized NeoShell

Specialized NeoShell gloves in the test: Today we are taking a closer look at the Specialized NeoShell in our list of the best cycling gloves for autumn and winter. Minimalists will love it, but not in the dead of winter.

The aim was to protect against wind and cold with as little material as possible Specialized with this glove. They relied on the NeoShell membrane from Polartec. The elastic, breathable and waterproof membrane is used on the backhand and is guaranteed to withstand a water column of 10.000mm. However, Specialized does not use an insulation layer in this area. The palm is made of AX Suede, an abrasion-resistant and water-repellent synthetic leather. The inside is covered with a light fleece at this point. There are no silicone prints or large reflectors in the NeoShell Gloves. The neoprene shaft is equipped with a Velcro fastener.

Practical test of the Specilized NeoShell Gloves

The minimalist glove is very thin and light compared to other bad weather gloves. Nevertheless, it feels robust and gives you the confidence to be able to go out the door with it in bad weather. In terms of workmanship, there is nothing to complain about here. However, the glove runs small in size, so we recommend a size larger.

With the help of the Velcro fastener, the NeoShell glove can be put on quickly and easily. Once put on, the excellent freedom of movement is immediately noticeable. The grip feeling on the handlebars is also very direct and is reminiscent of a summer glove.

Wind and rain have no chance here. The NeoShell Gloves work great on wet and stormy rides in the temperature range around 8°C. Your hands stay dry and the climate inside the gloves remains pleasant.

For whom and what purpose is the glove suitable

If it gets uncomfortable outside, the NeoShell Gloves are the ideal companion for sporty riders who have a high heart rate. Below the 5°C limit, the glove is only for the hard-core people.
