12 drivers ensure 26 wins this season
Despite new addition Richard Carapaz, there is still no absolute superstar in the EF Education – EasyPost team. All for one - that's a motto that doesn't really apply to the US team. But that is not a criticism. On the contrary: the fact that twelve different drivers are responsible for the 26 victories this season shows that the EF Education – EasyPost squad is evenly strong. So won Alberto Bettiol the season opener at the Tour Down Under, then won Ben Healy and Magnus Court one stage each at the Giro d'Italia. There was cheering at the Tour de Pologne Marijn van den Berg. These victories were not only achieved in the WorldTour, but also on completely different terrains. The only thing that can be disappointing is the newcomer's performance Richard Carapaz be referred to. The Ecuadorian won the Mercan'Tour Classic Alpes-Maritimes, but disappointed as captain for the important tours. In Catalonia he only finished 51st and in the Basque Country and the Tour de France he was eliminated. But he wasn't in good shape anyway. At the Critérium du Dauphiné his performance was only enough for 36th place.
2024: A mix of youngsters & oldies
With the departure of Magnus Court The EF Education – EasyPost team not only loses a good driver, but also a lot of style. The Schnauzer completed his Grand Tour triple this year by winning a section of the Giro d'Italia. Next to him also left, among other things Jonathan Caicedo, Jens Keukeleire and Mark Padun the team. It is still unclear whether the contracts of Sean Quinn, James Shaw and Merhawi Kudus be extended. In return, some well-known professionals join the team. Michael Valgren has already won the Amstel Gold Race and the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. But his great successes lie far back. The now 31-year-old had to struggle with serious injuries and most recently drove for the EF Devo team. Now he is returning to the professionals. As another oldie, you can Rui Costa be referred to. The 37-year-old drove for Intermarche this season and performed extremely well on hilly terrain. In addition to the oldies, EF Education – EasyPost is primarily filling the squad with extremely talented youngsters. The Irish people Archie Ryan and Darren Rafferty are considered huge talents. The same applies to the British Jack Rootkin Gray and Luke Nerurkar. They all definitely have what it takes to make a breakthrough right in year #1.
