UAE Team Emirates is not just Tadej Pogacar
Although the main competitor Jumbo - Visma won all three major national tours in the 2023 season, in the end the UAE Team Emirates is in first place in the UCI world rankings. The Slovenian not only came second in the Tour de France, but also won numerous important one-day races, including the Amstel Gold Race, the Flèche Wallonne, the Tour of Flanders and the Tour of Lombardy. The 25-year-old is rightly considered the best driver in the world. But he wasn't the only one who ensured great success for his team in 2023. Jay Vine for example, won the Tour Down Under right at the start of the season. Sebastián Molano won the GP de Denain and stages at the UAE Tour, the Tour of Guangxi and the Vuelta a Espana. The Swiss Marc Hirschi found his way back to his old strength and won the Tour of Luxembourg, the Ordiziako Klasika, the Giro dell'Appennino and the Tour of Hungary, among others. Adam Yates first won the overall classification of the Tour de Romandie and then the start of the Tour de France. The year 2023 was an absolutely successful one for the UAE Team Emirates with 57 victories.
2024: Many top talents have signed
The UAE Team Emirates has been in a battle against Jumbo – Visma for years. This battle for supremacy in road cycling will continue in 2024. Both teams are fighting over the greatest talents and the already best drivers. In order to strengthen the squad, space must first be created. With Matteo Trentin, Pascal Ackermann, George Bennett, Davide Formolo, Jan Polanc and Ryan Gibbons Six drivers are leaving the team who will be 30 years old or significantly older next year. In return, we secured, among other things, four absolute top talents. Jan Christen signed a contract in August. The Swiss is considered perhaps the greatest talent of his generation. of Mexico Isaac del Toro won the Tour de l’Avenir in 2023 – the Tour de France of the future. Anyone who drives well here is almost guaranteed to have a successful career. Portugal Antonio Morgado the top results are still missing. But he is said to have watt values that not even his compatriot Joao Almeida has ever achieved. And the Spaniard Igor Arrieta is said to be an absolute climbing ace. In addition, the Italians have Filippo Baroncini, the Frenchman Pavel Shivakov and the German Nils Politt signed a contract for 2024. So the UAE Team Emirates has not only improved, but also prepared for the future.
