Jumbo – Visma is only missing one monument in 2023
A look at the UCI ranking of the teams at the end of the 2023 season is surprising. Not Jumbo – Visma is at the top, but the UAE Team Emirates. Nevertheless, all experts should agree that the year of the Dutch team was one of the most successful in the history of cycling. Primois Roglic won the Giro d'Italia, jonas vingegaard the Tour de France and Sepp kuss finally the Vuelta a Espana. But the black and yellow didn't just triumph in the three major national tours. Numerous week-long tours and one-day races were also won. Among other things, cheered Dylan van baarle at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Tiesj Benoot near Kuurne – Brussels – Kuurne and Christophe Laporte at Gent – Wevelgem, Dwars door Vlaanderen and the European Championships. The team management is only likely to be disappointed with the results when it comes to the monuments. None of the five most important one-day races went to Jumbo – Visma.
2024: Cian Uijtdebroeks for Primoz Roglic
In addition to all the successes, Jumbo – Visma also had to learn to deal with a stroke of fate last season. Nathan van Hooydonck suffered a heart attack while driving and had to end his active career as a professional cyclist. Also resigned - although not for health reasons - Rohan Dennis and Jose van Emden. The biggest loss, however, is the Giro winner Cousin Roglic. The Slovenian will compete for the German team Bora – hansgrohe in the future and will therefore be one of his former team's biggest opponents. Not for Visma | next season either Lease a bike Sam Oomen, Timo Roosen, Tobias Foss and Gijs Leemreize. In return, the Dutch are strengthening themselves in the high mountains Matteo Jorgenson. The American is considered a great talent and has already shown flashes of this at Movistar. As a royal transfer, however, the commitment of Cian Uijtdebroeks be referred to. The Belgian, who is only 20 years old, is THE mega-talent in road cycling. He makes the black and yellow even stronger. Also Ben Tulett Bringing him into the team was a smart decision. The Brit is only 22 years old and is said to still have a lot of potential. The list of new additions is completed primarily by our own youth work.
