Lapierre was a real pioneer in the field of light e-MTBs with the original eZesty a few years ago, long before today's trend was even foreseeable. The expectations of the successor are correspondingly high. With the new Fazua Ride 60, 150 mm travel, a completely new carbon frame and versatile alignment, the new eZesty tries to build on the success of its predecessor. With the Ride 60, Lapierre has installed the strongest light motor on the market next to the Bosch SX, which can also extract very good range from the 430 Wh battery integrated in the down tube. To save weight, the latter is unfortunately permanently integrated, but at least our test bike in frame size M weighs a really respectable 18,1 kg.

The equipment is very good for the asking price of 8.699 euros. The brakes and gears come entirely from Shimano's XT series, and the chassis uses RockShox Ultimate components. The Pike at the front is a bit of a surprise given the suspension travel, but saves a few grams of weight compared to Lyrik or even Zeb. The in-house carbon rims are a positive surprise - this is anything but a given in this price range.

Despite its suspension travel, the new eZesty AM is more of a trail bike than an enduro: its handling is agile, is a lot of fun, especially on flowing routes, and invites you to play. When things get rougher, the light bike from France still holds up well, thanks in part to the grippy tires and modern geometry. Heavy riders in particular should clearly notice the noticeably flexing fork. What is absolutely positive, however, is the pleasant background noise on the trail - Fazua and Lapierre have done their homework here. The new Fazua Ride 60 delivers an enormous amount of power, especially in its highest support level and with the time-limited turbo, which doesn't have to hide from “full-sized” mid-engines. If you take it a little more slowly, really long ranges are possible, especially if you install the optional range extender. When it comes to response, the drive sometimes seems a bit wooden and cannot be adjusted quite as finely as the similarly powerful Bosch SX.
