Classic aero rim for road, cross and gravel
The rims are a maximum of 24 mm wide and V-shaped with a nice curve in the area of the spoke holes - a shape that represents a good compromise between weight and aerodynamics. At 20 mm, the internal width is not too large, which has the advantage that the wheelset allows a lot of freedom when choosing tires. If you ride it on a racing bike, you can put 25 mm narrow tires on it; The tire is then only slightly wider than the rim, which is optimal in terms of aerodynamics. If the AC 35 Allroad Basic is used for cyclocross, the 20 mm internal width ensures that the tires are not pulled apart too much - important for licensed drivers whose tires cannot be wider than 33 mm. The rather narrow rim also ensures that the risk of “burping” with tubeless tires is low. A rim that is too wide may not be able to adequately support the narrow, low-pressure cross tire when cornering, so that the tire is pushed out of the side of the rim and loses air.
The wheelset is also interesting for cross riders because aero rims make it easier to get through deep sand. This cannot fold over the 35 mm rim and thereby hinder progress, whereas flat rims can sink completely into the sand.
And what about the gravel bike? The Leeze AC 35 Allroad Basic is also in its element here - at least when “gravel racing” with tires up to 40 mm wide is popular. For trail tires of 45 to 50 mm, a wider rim is required. The wheelset can also take advantage of its weight and aerodynamics on fast off-road missions: it can be accelerated quickly, is steering-neutral and extremely stable.
Four-pawl freewheel and optional ceramic bearings
A feature of the “Basic” series from Leeze is the classic lacing – 24 spokes each, crossed twice. Many renowned manufacturers rely on this proven construction principle; With high spoke tension, Leeze ensures consistently good concentricity and high stability. With smooth-running bearings and a finely pitched four-pawl freewheel, the inner workings of the hubs are also top notch; If desired, there are even ceramic bearings that almost double the price of the wheelset in the top version.
